Plasma Pen

Mostly used to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and tighten sagging skin, the Plasma Pen really can work wonders on your complexion. Usually applied around the eyes and eyelids, the non-surgical treatment is also used to tighten the throat area, instantly remove skin tags, and minimize acne scars, age spots and stretch marks.

HOW DOES THE PLASMA PEN WORK?

The Plasma Pen is a hand-held device that utilises energy found in the air to create its very own source of plasma energy. The pen does not need to touch your skin to have an effect. It is instead held a millimeter from the skin’s surface – close enough to create a small stream of energy as the plasma reacts to your body’s electrical charge.

During the procedure, the practitioner will slowly stagger tiny dots, which are blood clots, along the affected area by doing tiny amounts of energy in a series of 2-4 treatments. This creates micro-trauma to the skin; the small dots will scab over closing off the tissue which prevents the risk of infection.

DOES IT HURT?

The Plasma Pen treatment is not the most comfortable procedure, but it is not unbearably painful. Some areas are more sensitive than others, such as around the eye area, but your practitioner will apply numbing cream to make sure the procedure is as comfortable as possible.

HOW LONG DOES THE PLASMA PEN TREATMENT LAST?

In skin tightening we have seen results lasting for up to 2 years. Note that due to the normal aging process of the skin will gradually loosen over time again.

DOES THE PLASMA PEN TREATMENT BURN THE SKIN?

The simple answer is YES!

The intended purpose is to ablate (burn) the superficial layer of the skin to intentionally to cause a small superficial burn. This superficial burn caused by the electrical arc in turn will transfer a certain amount of heat onto the deeper layers of the skin, hence stimulating the natural skin reaction to heat: Very Localised Skin Tightening.

ARE THE EFFECTS OF THE PLASMA PEN INSTANT?

The procedure will have an instant result; however, the results will show after the area has healed. Additionally, the result will be dependent on the aftercare.

HOW OFTEN DO I NEED TO GET THE PLASMA PEN TREATMENT?

The minimum wait period between treatments is decided by your beauty therapist, however in the best-case scenario it is recommended to wait at least 6 weeks between treatments. Based on your case and the intensity of the treatment performed, the beauty therapist can decide to increase this minimum interval between treatments.

CAN I SUNBATHE AFTER MY PLASMA PEN TREATMENT?

It is not advisable to sunbathe or going to tanning salons at least 3 months after the last treatment. You must wear total sunscreen on the area treated every day after the treated area has recovered fully and avoid direct sun exposure even with the sunscreen on. Direct exposure to sun light and UV artificial light sources can cause hyper-pigmentation.

WHAT IS THE DOWNTIME INCLUDED WITH THE PLASMA PEN TREATMENT?

The downtime for the Plasma Pen can be anywhere from 1-3 weeks

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS?

Fortunately, if performed by a trusted and reputable clinic, the side effects of a Plasma Pen fibroblast treatment are usually minimal.

If the treatment has been applied to your eye area, you can expect some light swelling and redness which will disappear after three to four days.

As is usually the case with scabbing, the affected area might also feel itchy for a few days after your treatment. Do not worry you will be given some products in your aftercare package which will help alleviate any discomfort you might feel.
