PRODUCTS FOR REDNESS
When cheeks are having a permanent rosy look to them, then you may have some underlying conditions happening.
If you notice your cheeks go red when you go outside into very hot or cold temperature then you probably have a sensitive skin type. Redness could also flare up when eating certain foods or putting products on with strong ingredients in them.
What causes redness?
Sensitive skin is a major factor in having redness and it is caused by your genetics. It is most likely one of your parents also has sensitive skin and has passed it on to yourself.
A few conditions fall under having sensitive skin such as acne, eczema, dermatitis and rosacea. All which come with side effects of redness.
Rosacea is the most common cause for redness in the skin. It can not only just cause redness but also bumps and/or swelling, especially on the nose, cheeks, forehead, and chin and can look similar to acne.
Unlike acne, however, people with Rosacea don’t get blackheads but do get dilated blood vessels. Rosacea is a chronic condition and rarely resolves without treatment. Mild Rosacea can be limited to mild redness of the cheeks. However, in the most severe forms, the skin overlying the nose can become permanently swollen and red because of dilated blood vessels and abnormal enlargement of oil glands.
Tips to help reduce redness
- Learn what your triggers are for redness, test certain common foods that cause redness like caffeine, spicy food and chocolate. See what temperatures flare up your redness, extreme hot or cold, could be both. Also try to relieve any everyday stress that may occur, to see if that helps the redness to calm down.
- Wear SPF every single day. If you are prone to redness, it will not take very long in the sun for it to flare up.
- Use soothing gentle ingredients in your everyday skin products. Find a gentle powder exfoliant and only use it once a week.
